KLM - Electric Flying Connection Tour
August 28 & 29, 2023
On the 28th and 29th of August, the first edition of the Electric Flying Connection Tour took place, in collaboration with KLM Royal Dutch Airlines. The two parties have offered a group of KLM guests a unique opportunity to experience the future of flying.
18 fully electric training flights, which operated between Lelystad Airport and Schiphol, offered unique insight into the entire system of electric flight logistics and the challenges it presents. The flights have been carried out by the E-flight Academy, and NRG2fly facilitated the charging facilities at both Schiphol and Lelystad Airport.
The event has been an important step in learning about the logistics and the future of electric flying. The aim has been to involve all relevant parties and introduce them to the practical possibilities of electric flying. During the two days, NRG2fly used both conventional Pipistrel chargers and the mobile charger. Furthermore, we facilitated the charging of ground service equipment at Lelystad Airport. A great development has been the use of our solar car, which enabeled the three planes to be powered directly by solar energy.
The logistics concerning these short-distance flights have given insights in the further possibilities for creating sustainable airports of the future. It has been proven that electric flights on solar energy are possible! Curious about upcoming developments in batteries and aircraft, NRG2fly is ready for the future!
